Owner/Handler: Sharon Collins Phoenix is a rescue from Paw Match in front of a PetsMart in South Austin. She had ear mites, hook worms, tape worms, conjunctivitis, and a mild case of mange. Her first vet vist was costly and for three months she took medicine for the mange until she got a clean bill of health from the vet.She was welcomed into a pack of two: Sasha (a Shi Tzu) and Angel (a Pekinese mix). Since then she has been joined by another rescue, Cinnamon (a Chow/Lab mix). Phoenix has a very calm and relaxed nature and loves making new friends (canine or human). Not to be outdone by her pack mate Sasha, Phoenix had to become a divine canine. Now it's hard for their mom to decide who to take on a visit. Phoenix has been involved in Barking Book Buddies making weekly visits to St. Elmo because she loves kids and laying around doing nothing while being read to is so easy. She also makes visits to St. David's Rehab, Austin State Hospital, Austin State Supported Living Center, and Fort Hood. She does excellent work at Cunningham Elementary working with special needs children because she doesn't mind being poked or pulled. |
