Dr. Michael Rotman, MD

Dr. Rotman was instrumental in developing the Mayor’s Fitness Council in Austin, Texas. The goal of the council is to help make Austin, Texas the healthiest city in America by 2010. A governing coalition of over forty individuals from differing silos of interest have met over a period of two years and have developed the Austin Fit Index. Furthermore, they have helped create demonstration programs in fifteen self-organizing communities (local businesses and city government agencies) to improve the health of those communities through varying simple processes such as health choices in vending machines, walking groups, signage to support physical activity and nutritional choices (fruits and vegetables) in dining areas.

Duke Medical Association: Michael Rotman, MD, HS’66-’71, has been staying active in health care since retiring from cardiology in 2001. He is a board member of People’s Community Clinic for the uninsured in Austin, Texas, and as co-chair of fundraising helped to raise $7 million. He initiated the Mayor’s Fitness Council to help improve the general health of the community and is founder of Living Health Solutions—a non-profit organization whose mission is to find and develop solutions for better health and cost containment. He and his wife Sandy live in Austin


Dr. Robert Griffith, DVM

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Dr. Robert Griffith is a 1982 graduate of Colorado State University. He was the recipient of the Upjohn Award for proficiency in veterinary clinical medicine. Outside interests include all sports, skiing, and other outdoor activities.


Karen J. Bartoletti, JD

Karen has won several civic awards and is on the board at Animal Trustees of Austin. She is member and officer of the Board of Directors of Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) and SafePlace. She is also a former member and officer of the Board of Directors of a number of Austin non-profit organizations (Rape Crisis Center, University YMCA, Women and their Work, Trinity Center, Trinity Episcopal School). Karen is a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church.


Heidi Restivo

Heidi's passion for dogs began as she grew up an only child with four German Shepherd siblings. She and her family have had a number of dogs over the years. She became involved with divine canines in 2007 with her rescued black lab Lacey who was "perfect". After losing her beloved Lacey, Heidi continues her commitment to divine canines and its mission through involvement with the Board. She looks forward to one day being a volunteer again with one of her "less perfect" dogs.

Heidi enjoys spending her free time with her family including husband Vin, her young sons Maddox and Liam, and her yellow lab Sadie.
